Yuhan Shen: Another Bonfire Night

In the free stance of a draught, creeping, groveling, and sitting still, Shen builds up a quiet stronghold and launches a cold guerrilla attack. He gathers together various forms of water, allowing it to change and lurk in the stillness of the object, stringing together what appears to be a well-organized and docile "order." However, the flow of water gently encroaches in the midst of leakage and elongation, just like an assembly of resistance in a somber scene, scrutinizing and perching in the breach of this world. The object and the water flow have thus departed from their original function, semantics and rightful position of bearing, and have been compiled by the artist into a new tongue, a cunning and breezy wandering journal of subterranean rhetoric. The long and seemingly peaceful path of the occupation returns with a long stare for those in power in a meandering déjà vu, repeating over and over again the stabbing and retrieval of the subject in the shape of a fissure.
