Workshop

In ancient metaphors, thoughts are like threads, the storyteller is a spinner, and the poet is a weaver. In Latin, written texts are called textus, meaning “fabric,” while in Chinese tradition, poetry, painting, and calligraphy share the metaphor of wen (文), which signifies pattern, culture, and interconnectedness.

Why are we drawn to weaving? Weaving is a faithful and silent record of time: as needles dance and threads intertwine, our laughter, idle chatter, warmth, the faint sweat of our fingertips, and the time we spend together are all absorbed into the yarn, becoming part of the fabric. Mistakes are inevitable, and in the cycle of “weaving-unraveling-reweaving,” we oscillate between frustration and calm, disappointment and satisfaction, undergoing an ancient yet deeply personal emotional education.

Yarn speaks for us. Knit stitches and purls are the bytes, colors and textures the tones, increases and decreases the syntax. In the interplay of threads, rhythm and cadence emerge; patterns and styles take shape. Here, you can tell your own unique story—a rare creature that roams free, unbound by the confines of consumerism, responding only to your creative call.

In this space, you’ll learn the grammar of knitting and discover how to design your dream garment. Whether it’s a hair tie, Christmas stocking, sausage scarf, vintage sweater, pet couture, or a wearable tale, the choice is yours. All materials and tools will be provided by the organizers.
